If you would like to start a soap business, and organics are important to you, you may want to consider starting an organic soap business. Homemade soap is really sought after and the products that you make will be far superior to anything on the commercial market.

After making soap for a while it is often a natural progression to want to start a soap company. You have had success creating your soaps, have had positive feedback and feel the time is right to go bigger.

Starting a home soap business is a really fun business to start. You get to use your creativity and express your self with your soap while making a product that is better for your customers.

You will want to think of this as a business from the beginning. Make sure to have your license/permit, a business plan, a source to purchase wholesale supplies from and a marketing plan.

If you have been making soap for a while, you have probably made many different kinds. When you start a soap business, you will want to find your niche. The organics niche is very popular. People are conscious of what they are putting into and on their bodies these days.

By having a niche, you will have a specific market that is hungry for your products rather than a general market that is just looking around. You will be able to draw in those that are interested in what you have to offer.

Now with organics, you can’t just claim it is an organic product. You will need to only use certified organic ingredients. This is important with labeling and with government regulations. Although that may sound intimidating, it is easy to find these ingredients. The organics market is getting bigger each year with more and more customers.

While homemade soap may feel like a luxury, it is very affordable. You will likely charge between $3-$5 per bar. Organics will cost a little more, so you may charge a little more. This customer base is willing to pay a slightly higher price to have the product made the way they want.
